An Interview with Sherry Hawk

You're in for a treat today Coming Together fans, another one of our talented authors has agreed to be interviewed by the one, the only Victoria Blisse (me) for your pleasure. So I beter get on with asking Sherry Hawk some questions!

Where in the world are you from?

Right now, I'm in the deep south (US), but I've gone back and forth between here and Canada for the last six months, and will be making the move to the great white north permanently sometime within the next few months.

What inspires you?

I have a strong sense of curiosity - my mother would probably say that I'm nosey.

I'll often hear a song on the radio, then wonder about the story behind the lyrics. I've had stories come to life between home and the grocery store just from the lyrics of a song.

I also have a bad case of the "what ifs." It applies to everything ... I'll wonder about what if Atlantis really existed, or what if that cute guy in front of me in line at the bank was, in reality, an international thief, or what if magic was something that we could touch on a daily basis.

My youngest son plays the "what if" game really well, so he's even started me off on a tangent with "what if" from time to time *grin*.

Why do you write erotica?

I think that, like many of us, I was discouraged by the quality of most of the erotica I was reading. "I can do better" led to me taking the next step of writing my own erotic stories. I was surprised, and pleased, when readers seemed to enjoy what I wrote, and the writing bug had me firmly in it's clutches.

What other hobbies do you enjoy?

I crochet while I watch television, and then flood my friends with blankets. I also send several large boxes of blankets a year to the Pine Ridge Reservation. There are several really worthy organizations there that use them, and I'm happy to be able to help.

I also read like a fiend.

Pick just one book, yes just one that you'd consider to be you very favourite.

I don't even have to think about this answer - "Reservation Blues," by Sherman Alexie. He has an uncanny ability to make a reader laugh out loud with one passage, and feel that your heart is breaking with the next. Terrific author and poet.

Coming Soon...an interview with Jonathan Womack, publisher extraordinaire!
